So I have been trying to think of ways to memorialize Desmond. I feel somewhat guilty for already adding a new little guy to our family, and really wanted a way to spend time thinking about Desmond and creating something for our home that we can have forever. If you follow us on Instagram, you might know that I like to paint, though I haven’t done much of it lately. I painted these last summer and hung them in our living room. —->
Well, I was at Michael’s the other day and stood in the aisle with the canvases for what must have been 20 minutes just staring and wondering if I could translate the Tuxedo Trio onto canvas. What type of paint should I use? The three paintings above were done with watercolors on paper. Nothing fancy.
I ended up choosing a large square canvas and acrylic paint, since I have had some experience in the past with it. I like oils, but I wanted something that dried quickly. I spent several days working on it and I am really happy with how it came out!
Here are some shots of the work in progress:
And here is the final product (with Jack proudly showing it off)! I’m really happy with how it turned out. Now the original Tuxedo Trio crew will live on forever in our home.
Lovely picture!
